Product Review :: NSD Powerball

If you have ever managed to fall over and sprain your wrists or perhaps you just wanted to increase you wrist/arm strength then the NSD Powerball is for you! Shaped like a large tennis ball, the Powerball is a compact and precision crafted manually operated gyroscope. It contains a weighted centre which spins on two axes and when rotated by hand, can reach speeds of 15,000 rpm.

At this speed the Powerball is exerting almost 20kg of force on your arm and wrist. Depending on how you hold it, this will work wonders for building strength in the various muscle groups in the upper and lower arm. Because the force generated is always directly proportional to how fast it is being rotated, its not going to rip your arm off on the first go. I purchased a Powerball after taking a bad fall whilst wearing powerisers (spring stilts) and it really made a difference to my recovery time.

The powerball comes in a number of different varieties starting from £10 up to about £60. They all do much the same thing but which ever one you choose be sure to get one with an LCD screen so you can find out your fastest time. Aside from the health benefits the Powerball is a lot of fun especially for challenging your mates as to who can get the highest RPM.

Overall

With an LCD model costing just over £15 including p&p its not going to break the bank and it is a worthwhile investment if you are looking to gain some extra strength whilst you’re stuck inside because of bad weather or injury. The build quality of the Powerball is second to none and this is backed up by a life time money back guarantee from the manufacturer. While you may find the novelty wears off eventually, it is one of those gadgets that you'll re-discover after a few weeks and keep coming back to.
