Taunton

Name :: Lidl
Overview :: Out of all the spots in Taunton, 'Lidl' offers a great amount of variety for traceurs of all levels. It’s a great place to learn ALL the basic vaults and palm spins which is a great way to start off! This location offers practice on precisions, vaults and wall combinations. The walls vary in height so you can work your way up from small to large.
Opportunities :: The brilliant thing about this place is that the wall is very smooth, grippy and has no extreme edge so shinning isn’t as much of a problem which boosts your confidence. There is small shelter and the wall remains grippy even when wet but unfortunately none of the wall is actually under cover.
Hazards :: The security guards from Lidl are a bit annoying as they do object occasionally and move people on but you can always go back later. You can easily avoid drunk and/or 'drugged up' people. Chavs don’t seem to be a problem in the area despite the obvious abundance of cheap food and alcohol.
Near to :: Lidl! Now there's a surprise! Can't go wrong with water for 9p/litre and 8 cereal bars for a quid, even if they do taste like playdough :P. Just across the river is Goodlands Park.

Name :: Multistory
Overview :: The multistory carpark is just off the highstreet and offers a range of oppertunities including cat leaps, precision jumps and wall climbs. There are not enough obstacles to keep you occupied for a long time but it's a nice place to stop en-route to other places.
Opportunities :: Red brick walls offer good grip in most weather conditions though all the good stuff is exposed to the elements so this isnt a great place to go on a rainy day.
Hazards :: Occasionally you will get asked to leave by security but often they don't seem to mind. Seems pretty safe during the day but possibly a little dodgy at night.
Near to :: Just off the highstreet, about 400yds from Subway and 5 minutes from Goodlands.

Name :: High Street
Overview :: Centrally located in the middle of town, Taunton high street boasts a plethora of different walls of varying sizes. You would be forgiven for walking past this spot without noticing because there is nothing particularly striking about it but with a bit of immagnation there are lots of techniques that can be practiced here both parkour and street stunts.
Opportunities :: Most of the wall surfaces grip well when dry but quickly become slippery when damp; best avoided when raining as there is no shelther from the elements at all. There's not a huge amount of variety but lots can be done with what's there. A good place for practicing all kind of vaults, especially dive kongs and balancing. Also handy for doing flips on/off/over walls. Great for vaults and flips but not much in the way of railings or things to climb. - Worth checking out the multistory if this is more your thing.
Hazards :: Being in the middle of town does tend to attract a lot of attention but as a public open space by it's very design, few people will be capable of finding a valid reason for not wanting you to practice there.
Near to :: Just about every shop in Taunton, the multistory, & Subway restaurant.

Name :: Huish Park
Overview :: A large grassy field with a sand pit and not a lot else just about sums up Hush Park.
Opportunities :: There is no doubt about it, Huish Park is great for tricking and the sand pit is ideal for learning new tricks, flips and kicks. The wide grassy expanse is good for tumbling and putting together long combos which require a lot of space. If tricking is not your thing and you prefer parkour or street stunts then the chances are you will get bored here very quickly. With the exception of the single railing bordering the perimeter of the field there are no obstacles of any kind so if flat land tricking is really the only option.
Hazards :: I believe this is a public park, at least there are no signs suggesting otherwise. It is usually pretty empty when we go there so we've never had any complaints or people getting in the way. While they rarely venture into the field itself, the occasional chav does frequent the path leading to the park.
Near to :: Nowhere! Huish park is miles from just about every other spot in Taunton. Quantock is probably the nearest 'landmark' but it is still a long walk from there; in the region of 10-15mins.

Name :: Library
Overview :: Taunton library is situated pretty much in the centre of town and offers a sloped wall of varying height with railings on top.
Opportunities :: The railing topped walls are ideal for putting together combinations of movements as well as balance practice on the top. Kong-cats and kong-precisions of varying difficulty can be done here too.
Hazards :: Never had a problem here at the weekend but one would suspect it might be rather crowded during opening hours.
Near to :: Quantock House, Huish Park

Name :: Quantock House
Overview :: Quantock House is an office block just outside of town with an impressive array of walls, rails and drops.
Opportunities :: This area is quite a goldmine with so much stuff in such a small space. At the front there are steps which are great for jumps and precisions either up or down. To the left of that is a railing with a 6ft drop onto grass. Further back there are yet more rails providing limitless oppertunities to try out new moves and perfect existing ones.
Hazards :: Great on a weekend, best avoided during office hours.
Near to :: Hewish Park, Library

Name :: Sainsburys Carpark
Overview :: This is a relativly recently discovered location in the corner of Sainsburys carpark; a set of steps and a ramp leading down from the footpath above to the supermarket.
Opportunities :: The sloped path here is similar to that at the library only with a greater height difference and no railing on top. This makes it great for kong-precisions, standing precisions and cat leaps.
Hazards :: Looks like a bit of a rough area but we havent encountered any problems yet.
Near to :: The Library, Quantock House
